New parents are often accused of posting an abundance of baby pictures or telling too many stories about their tiniest family member, but I get it. Even with my third baby, I remember standing at the edge of the crib, unable to take my exhausted eyes off of his sweet face despite my desperate need for sleep. The newborn stage goes so fast, and as parents, we never want to forget what our babies looked like with unimaginably tiny toes and serene sleepy faces, their bodies so small in the palms of our hands. We want to have those images emblazoned in our minds.
My longing to remember each precious stage of childhood is what sparked my passion for photography—I can freeze time just for a little bit and create a memento from that time in our lives. That’s why I especially love capturing newborns.
Sleeping Little Angel Baby
Baby Josephine looked like an angel for her first photo shoot. With all of the snuggly swaddling, gentle positioning, and soothing voices of her parents, she couldn’t quite fend off the urge to sleep, so we got some adorable shots of her snoozing away peacefully. She looked like a little doll sleeping so soundly in her mother’s arms and glowed as her dad proudly displayed her in the palms of his hands.
I love how her tiny toes peek out of the little swaddling blanket and how the headband adds just a touch of sparkle to her already-gorgeous head. The natural background and minimal props allowed me to highlight Josephine’s features as well as the complete adoration on Chris and Patty’s faces as they hugged their little girl close. These pictures turned out beautifully.
I am so glad that we have pictures to remind us to pause and appreciate all that we have, even when the world around us becomes hectic. I can’t imagine feeling anything other than delight when looking at these precious photos of Josephine. Thank you for letting me freeze time for you, Hoffman Family!
